Updates!

Just some updates to share.
  • I now have the option of a pearl snap fastener on bib sets, they are a cute alternative to Velcro. I bought some new fabric this week as well that is pretty fun, I'll try to make some up next week to show off.
  • Exciting news! I will be working for the next little bit on a mural at a pre-school, it will be eating up some of my "free time", but keep posted in the next week or two for pictures!
  • We have temporarily put our finger puppets on hold :( Unfortunately once you take the huge amount of time it takes to design and build a set by hand (about 5 evenings) and materials, it is just not cost efficient.

Serger time

I made the purchase. The Singer Pro-Finish 14CG754 has found it's new home in my craft room. I haven't had a chance to start playing with it yet. With a cold working itself through a family of five, I really haven't felt up to it. I have been reading through the manual though so hopefully it will be a smooth transition ?

I bought some ribbon and played around and made some cute little fold-over tags to go on some things like puppets and toys. They are a smaller version of our earlier tag and have "Handmade in Canada" on the reverse. I am desperately trying to think of other things to make tags for because it is so easy and fun.

Tonight I am plan to start work on a snail pillow that have been picking material for. I hope it works out ... I am not sure how big I want to make it, but I am thinking this one will be girly!

Gadgets

Hooray! I got my "jannily" stamp and I am so excited. Paul and the kids have been stamping everything they can find. I also got some labels printed off which look fantastic ... but now that I see them, I can totally make these myself.

I also started making some bug cards that are super cute, what kid, okay what boy, doesn't love things all creepy and crawly? I also made a set of party invitations with little bumble bees. They have little rosy cheeks ... why did it take me so long to discover blending chalks? Pretty soon we will be having J's birthday party, well I say soon but really it's not until May. I can`t wait to share what we have in store ...

We begin

We finally got started on our site, with lots lots lots to do (in the evenings once the kiddos are in bed of course). Right now I am awaiting some supplies and then I can get a few wraps done. I am working on expanding the Truck Series in the cards as well.
We are switching materials that we use on the finger puppets to make them a bit more durable, so I can’t wait to get some of those done to show you, and will be switching to hand-stitched eyes as well to make them more kid-friendly. After a friendly competition between Paul & I on the puppet packaging that can double as a small puppet theatre, I must admit that Paul’s has won, so far we only have the prototype on here ( I will share mine later as well!)
I have a plethora of woodwork for Paul to do for me to paint that I am so excited about … if only he had the time to start it!
