Bee There?

Thought I should share something else for a change, to get away from some of the fabric things I have been working on. This is a set of 6 invitations, could be used for a shower, a child's birhday, a tea party ...

Yesterday the kids and I were making paper owls and I thought I would make one to sew onto something. He turned out really cute. At first my plan was to put him onto a bag, to use as a kid's library bag, but now I am not sure what I want to put him on.

Bibs and Blankies

Take a look at the new bib and blankie set. It is backed with a soft cozy fleece, with a velcro closure. This is a "Work Zone" fabric, but I have others ready to sew as well. The mathching little blanket makes a good burb cloth or to help with the feeding cleanup (or to put on the feeder's lap if baby is having a meal on the go).

A custom ordered snail pillow!

Serger time

I made the purchase. The Singer Pro-Finish 14CG754 has found it's new home in my craft room. I haven't had a chance to start playing with it yet. With a cold working itself through a family of five, I really haven't felt up to it. I have been reading through the manual though so hopefully it will be a smooth transition ?

Redesign

We started redesigning the look and feel of jannily.com because neither Paul or I were happy with it. The last time I made a website was when I was in high school and we all had to make something about our neighbourhoood ... and the internet was so new to me that I wasn't even sure what it was. A lot has changed. I sat down with a dreamweaver tutorial the other night and started to read, got bored, and then started playing around. The landing page is mostly done but it has been pretty slow going. There are still a few details to be added, and measurements to be figured out. The good thing is that I didn't wait too long to start this, or I'd be moving over a lot more!

Meet the new little boy snail! J thought he should have one for himself. His name is Fred. Sorry the photo quality is poor, the batteries were running out so much that it shut off twice while I tried to take a picture. You can see that he is quite a bit smaller, measuring in at about 10" from the bottom to the top of his shell and 12" from his rump to neck.

Snail

So I finished my first snail, a first run really. Her name is Lucy. At almost 18 inches in diameter, she is made from 100% reused material. Figured out the hard way to sew it, hopefully next time I will sew it the easy way. I also learned that using a strechy t-shirt fabric was not a great idea, so next time I'll avoid it...

I bought some ribbon and played around and made some cute little fold-over tags to go on some things like puppets and toys. They are a smaller version of our earlier tag and have "Handmade in Canada" on the reverse. I am desperately trying to think of other things to make tags for because it is so easy and fun.

Tonight I am plan to start work on a snail pillow that have been picking material for. I hope it works out ... I am not sure how big I want to make it, but I am thinking this one will be girly!

Bugs Bugs Bugs Bugs

Thought I would share a peek at a bug card, there is even a bug in the inside. I have been harassing Paul to do more work on the site since there is such a back-log of stuff I have been working on for him to put on, but he has been busy (he has been trying to get a good rink going in our yard but the weather ... and a leaky tarp ... have been creating some challenges).

I was playing around with ribbons and was able to make my mother some labels for some of her stuff that turned out great. The possibilities are endless now, I am thinking of what else I can make labels for ...hhhhmmmmm...

I finally found a great supplier for some fabric that I was hoping to buy, so that is my next project, FABRIC SHOPPING. I also have my eye on a serger that should be coming on sale soon and then I need to get busy sewing!
